WorldPride Madrid

Madrid is already home to one of the biggest Pride Parades (Orgullo) in the world. This year will be its 40th birthday. To celebrate the milestone, Madrid is hosting both EuroPride and WorldPride. This is the first time any city has ever hosted both events at the same time. The festivities officially opened Friday June 23rd and run through to July 3rd.

Chueca

Chueca is Madrid’s gay neighborhood and will serve as WorldPride’s epicenter, hosting events, performances, and parties. Madrid officials have already installed a number of same-sex and gender neutral traffic lights across the city, which will remain in place even after WorldPride is over.

Mother Pride

This is the Mother of all Prides and tries to be super inclusive, so its agenda includes art, culture, parties, sports, conferences on human rights and, of course, the iconic parade. Estimates are coming in that roughly 2 million gay tourists will be descending on Madrid for WorldPride. Imagine what your RADAR grid is going to look like with wall-to-wall Romeos in Chueca.

Social Media Pride

Follow the fun on our Twitter and Snapchat channels as Social Media Officer, Joseph, follows the parade live from 18hr CEST. Join the conversation with #worldpride2017 and #datesfriendslove. We’ll put together a selection of the most inspirational and bizarre images, tweets and instagrams in a review early next week. Until then, have a safe and happy WorldPride.
