Interview with Matt Bogard, DJ at European Gay Ski Week
Matt Bogard arrived on the London scene in late 2011. According to Matt, he instantly made his mark on clubbers and promoters alike with his musical taste, versatility on the decks, many styles of music and friendly personality. We catch up with this handsome hunk just before he heads off to DJ at EGSW (European Gay Ski Week) to raise the temperatures on the frozen pistes of France, at least on the dance floor.

So, who is Matt Bogard?
“I’m basically a happy guy, who adores being a DJ, and loves to make a night of it, by getting people on the dance floor, even if they didn’t really want too!”

Is this your first time at EGSW? What do you know about it already?
“This will be my second EGSW. I went last year for the first time, and I have to say it’s a pretty special event. The sense of community between everyone is lovely. The après ski after a long day skiing is the perfect place to relax and socialize with your fellow friends, old and new! And as the evening gets going so does the music and fun!”
Music and Snow
Will you be going skiing yourself?
“Yes! I have been a keen skier since my first ski trip over 12 years ago, and I absolutely love it. In my case, it allows me to meet up with friends I haven’t seen in a while; getting to explore the mountains with them all day, making magical memories and having countless giggles, is just one of the amazing things which makes me love EGSW even more!
What do you think is the best ski music?
“Well, I have a broad taste in music. I think personally, I’d have some old school UK garage playing in my headphones. I guess it’s really a personal preference though, and whether you are planning on booting it down the slope or taking a long winding descent down, that will decide what type of music to listen to.”
Can you feel it?
DJs often talk about feeling the crowd and reacting to their mood. If the crowd has been skiing all day, I imagine they arrive a bit tired, how do you manage this?
“You have just to read the crowd then and there on the night, live. If people look active you can test out their dance moves. If they look a bit tired, just try and get them bouncing in their seats. It all depends on how active they were during the day I guess. Sometimes people take a day off to rest and recover, and those people will be ready to party I’m sure!”
Lets Talk Business
When and where are you playing?
“I will be playing at two of the main parties; the first is the infamous Snowball hosted by Excite Paris on Monday the 19th and the second is Afterhours on Friday the 23rd at 1am ! I can’t wait ☺”
What are the best parties to attend?
“All of them, obviously! The nightly cabaret show is highly recommended too!”
Some Juicy Questions
Are you single? What’s your type?
“I am in a relationship, and I don’t really have a type. I just know when I like someone.”
Have you ever kissed a guy dancing at your party?
“The short answer … Yes haha”
Great name, unique undefinable taste in music, and very good looking, you must get a lot of bookings. Where would you most like to perform that you haven’t already?
“Well first of all, thank you for the compliments. ☺ I do feel very lucky to be where I am in 2018. Looking forward, I would really like to play in the US one day, and also in Asia. Those places are my next goal, a dream, and a big focus for me in the next few years!”
