Amsterdam Canal Pride History in Pictures

Since its inception in 1996, Amsterdam Canal Pride has grown to be one of the largest annual events in The Netherlands, second only to King’s Day.

Unlike other Prides around the world, this ‘March’ for love actually sails through the canals of Amsterdam. Up to eighty barges laden with DJ’s, sound systems, men, women and a healthy amount of spectacular costumes all come together in a buoyant expression of diversity.

This year, the Amsterdam Canal Pride anthem is ‘I am what I am’, covered by Shary-an.

We’ve selected a series of photos from Canal Prides past to whet your appetite for the main event this weekend. Enjoy, and if you have some Amsterdam Pride pictures of your own, send them to social@planetromeo.com We’ll add to the collection as we get them.

Much Love,
