Gay India 377 ROMEO Survey Results

As soon as the news broke that Section 377 was going to be removed from Indian Law by the Supreme Court, we knew we had to ask our Indian Romeos what impact this decision would have on their lives.

We sent the survey out to all of our ROMEOs in India, and the full results are ready for you to read. We’ve listed a few of the highlights below, to whet your appetite.

Survey Highlights

Statistically speaking, there are about 42 million LGBT+ people in India. This is the biggest liberation in human history. Ever!

Of the participants in our survey we discovered only 6% are really out, an incredible 33% are married (to women) and 28% of the youths surveyed want to be activists.

The Future is Bright

The repeal of 377 is only the groundwork for true liberation. There is much to do, and it will be a marathon. That’s why we are extremely proud that 28% of India’s youth want to become gay activists.

One for the History Books

“History owes an apology to the members of this community and their families, for the delay in providing redressal for the ignominy and ostracism that they have suffered through the centuries. The members of this community were compelled to live a life full of fear of reprisal and persecution. This was on account of the ignorance of the majority to recognise that homosexuality is a completely natural condition, part of a range of human sexuality.”

Supreme Court of India, September 4, 2018

Fascinating Results

We strongly recommend reading the full survey results here.

And to all the newly decriminalized people in India, go out, date and have fun, without fear of being blackmailed. :))

Much love,

ROMEO
